Church Trends that are Turning Visitors Away
In today’s word of Christianity, there is new gospel coming up. Paul warned the Galatians about ‘different’ gospels:
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel.
The gospel focuses on self achievement. It tells you to believe in your self instead on relying on God. Believing in self is good but taking God out of the agenda is self actualization. This is called the gospel of prosperity.
Gospel today is used to manipulate members of the church today instead of edifying the church at large.
Sermons and messages suppose to ignite fire in church congregation. Sermons preached by pastors today are not the truth. Pastor knows the bible but they are afraid of members leaving their church.
The more you dilute your messages for the fear of members leaving, the more you lose members.
I will be dropping 7 reasons why members leave churches today, all pastors should watch out for this so it can be corrected.

1. Church Leaders Preaches Diluted Messages
The man of God said I will rather still in the dark with little or no crowd than try on my own effort to increase church members.
2. Becoming too friendly with the congregation

The mistake many follow-up teams made is, they want to know where new visitors work, if they are married, single, or divorced. The number of kids they have. Where they last vacationed. If this is how your follow-up team or you as a pastor i, stop it. Stop trying so hard. Being overly-friendly repels visitors. a visitor will say “Let me ease in slowly. Don’t bombard me with ministry opportunities immediately. I want to learn from the incredible message your pastor delivers. Realize I’ve left a church which hurt my heart a while back, it’s just going to take time for me to trust again.” “Some friendships do not last, but some friends are more loyal than brothers,” – (Proverbs 18:24)
3. An Inhospitable and unfriendly church.
4. Fashion-competing church.
The pastor hair looks obvious. The pastor’s wife’s wears ‘too-tight’ jeans, a hairstyle which, quite frankly, doesn’t work with her age.You started losing visitors because new members started thinking if they’ll need to invest in a new wardrobe. I am not against fashion but It’s that we want to use our talents and spiritual gifts and what we’re NOT wearing shouldn’t get in the way of doing Kingdom work. I don’t want trends, I want friends. Proverbs 16:18 reminds us:“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”
5. The anything go church
6. The church where spiritual growth is hard to achieve
People are hungry for words which empower and equip. People need authentic hope. Churches today place holiness as a thing impossible, beside this it member feels like there are those that are spiritual unlike we carnal christian. I was discussing with a member in my home church and she was like you spiritual christian should make the plan for the year while we that are not spiritual should watch and keep shut. I felt sad and angry in the spirit. Don’t wait until they’ve proven themselves. Remember, Christ called his disciples immediately. “Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” –Mark 2:17. I think pastor should lay more emphases on spiritual growth, letting the new members as well as the unbelievers know that are accepted and can be a firebrand instead of always hitting sermon on hellfire and doom. this messages are good but they condemn people not only those that are unsaved but those that are saved don’t know how to grow in Christ. Then they say I’m no longer interested in listening to sermons which amp up your righteousness and make me unrighteous. I’m broken…hurting. I’m close to giving up. Don’t turn me away on account of my outfit or skin color or thick accent. I’m heartsick

7. Pastors Promoting Their Books
Even if the pastor is beloved and trusted by his congregation, newbies have yet to make this connection, joking that they showed up to an author’s book tour instead of a church.
In all, some members won’t add anything positive to a ministry because everyone is place under a ministry. As long as the member is not under the right ministry, no matter hsi/her intention he/she would end up adding nothing to that ministry. This is why prayer is important.
PRAYER: Father bring unto me members that will ease my burden and labour in Jesus name.
